Perth Bhangra Academy ("PBA", "we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly. It applies to information collected through our website, our enrolment form, our classes and events, and our social media and marketing activities.
We have prepared this policy in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Many small businesses in Australia with an annual turnover of $3 million or less are exempt from most of the Privacy Act, and this may apply to PBA. We have chosen to follow the APPs as best practice regardless, because we collect information from families and children.
Information We Collect
When you enquire about or enrol in a class, we may collect:
- Student first and last name, and age
- Parent or guardian full name (for students under 18)
- Email address and mobile number
- Preferred class location and class type
- Preferred payment option
- Photographs and video footage taken during classes, rehearsals, performances and Academy events, where you have consented to this on our enrolment form
We do not collect payment card, banking or other financial account details through our website or enrolment form.
How We Use Your Information
- To process and manage class enrolments and bookings
- To contact you about classes, schedules, fees, cancellations and Academy news
- To manage the health, safety and supervision of students during classes and activities
- To share photos and videos on our website and social media channels for promotional purposes, only where consent has been given
- To comply with our legal obligations
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
Where We Store Your Information
Enrolment details submitted through our website are stored using Google Workspace services (such as Google Sheets). These service providers may store information on servers located outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure our service providers handle information securely.
Photography, Video and Social Media
We regularly take photos and videos during classes, rehearsals and performances for teaching, promotional and social media purposes. We only use images or footage of a student where the parent, guardian or adult student has provided consent on our enrolment form. If you wish to withdraw this consent at any time, contact us using the details below and we will remove any identifiable content we control within a reasonable time.
Access and Correction
You may ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you or your child at any time by contacting us. We will respond to reasonable requests within a reasonable timeframe.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response and PBA is covered by the Privacy Act for your matter, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
