Founder, Director & Coach
Tajinder Singh
Tajinder Singh founded Perth Bhangra Academy in 2022 with a vision to preserve authentic Punjabi Folk Bhangra and create structured opportunities for children, adults and performers across Western Australia. His Bhangra journey began in Jalandhar in 2005 and has continued through performances, competitions, community events, school workshops and regular Academy training in Perth.
Tajinder began learning Bhangra in 2005 with Surtaal Sabhyacharak Sath, Jalandhar, training under Niti Raj Shergill and performing with the late Shri Jolly Ustaad as Dholi. During his studies at D.A.V. Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar, he continued performing at cultural events and competitions.
In Western Australia, Tajinder has remained actively involved in Punjabi cultural and multicultural events, Harmony celebrations, schools, Diwali Melas, Sikh Games and community programs, including cultural engagement with the City of Fremantle, South West Indian Group Bunbury and Bhangra workshops at Maarakool Primary School in Brabham.
Tajinder is also an Australian-qualified fitness professional and holds a current Working with Children Check. His fitness background has included training Western Australia Police applicants, bringing knowledge of conditioning, discipline and safe physical development into his approach to Bhangra coaching.
Through Perth Bhangra Academy, his focus remains on preserving authentic Punjabi Folk Bhangra, developing confident performers and sharing Punjabi culture with the wider Western Australian community.
